Blackra1n

blackra1n
With the release of blackra1n today, a lot of people are having problems getting their devices jailbroken with the tool.  I know I did, but it seemed I did everything right.  I updated to 3.1.2, downloaded the software, and wanted to make it ra1n, but it wouldn’t.  I was stuck in a blackra1n drought.  Playing around with things tonight, I decided to do a restore on my iPhone 3G using the 3.1.2 firmware.  After that was done, and before I did anything else, I ran blackra1n one more time.  This time, it worked.  So, if you’re having trouble jailbreaking today, do what I did.  Restore, run blackra1n, and cross your fingers.

What is blackra1n? blackra1n is a 30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak. Even the ipt3, but the ipt3 is tethered. In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n.

Warning 3g and 3gs unlockers, do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded.  Check out the dev team’s offerings.

*UPDATE*
So after finally getting this thing jailbroke, there was a problem with the springboard.  None of my default icons were there.  This included settings, messaging, phone, ipod, safari.  I had to restore and jailbreak yet again.  This time however, I couldn’t jailbreak.  I knew that blackra1n worked, it just wouldn’t this time around.  I ended up having to disable my antivirus and windows firewall along with making sure that all iTunes processes were stopped.  If you’re still having problems with this jailbreak, try that.
